Macao-Hengqin Discovery Quest: 2025 Summer Educational Travel Seminar was held on April 26 in Hengqin. At the event, travel institutions from Macao and Hengqin promoted their summer programs, while industry representatives collaborated to advance the development of the educational travel industry.

Co-hosted by the Macao SAR Government Tourism Office and the Economic Development Bureau of Hengqin (ECDHengqin) as part of the 13th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo, the seminar brought together educational travel institutions from both regions. It also served as a platform for tour operators, travel agencies, educational institutions, and camp organizers from Macao, Hengqin, and the other parts of the mainland to exchange ideas.

According to third-party data, the educational travel market in the Chinese mainland reached a value of 146.9 billion yuan in 2023, with projections suggesting it will exceed 300 billion yuan by 2028.

Focusing on the strategic objectives outlined in the overall development plan for the Guangdong-Macao in-depth cooperation zone in Hengqin, the Zone has actively developed four key industries: sci-tech research and high-end manufacturing; traditional Chinese medicine (TCM); cultural tourism and conventions; and modern finance.

In the realm of cultural tourism, efforts are being made to leverage Macao's status as a world tourism center, along with the cultural, tourism, and convention resources of both Hengqin and Macao, to build a cross-border tourism industry chain. In 2024, Hengqin welcomed 15.03 million visitors, marking a year-on-year increase of 27.35%.

The event also invited over 100 industry representatives and international buyers from South Korea, Thailand, and China's Hong Kong SAR to participate in a one-day educational travel inspection, visiting Hengqin Chimelong, Sumlodol Camping Park, and the Hengqin Culture & Art Complex.
