TheMacau L!ve International 2025festival will be held from October 1 to 5 at the Hengqin Cultural & ArtComplex, marking a significant step in building a shared cultural base for Hengqin and Macao.

A highlight of the festival is the announcement of four international master workshops—covering clown theater, improvisational theater, mime, and Italian masked theater. Designed for both beginners and professionals, early-bird discounts make these world-class artistic experiences accessible to audiences in Hengqin and Macao.

On October 2, French clown artist Philippe Manceau, with over three decades of experience, will lead a workshop on clown theater techniques. Through physical games and comedic stunt simulations, participants will learn to embrace failure with humor—a core principle of clown theater—in a session open to all skill levels.

The following day, Zmack Improv founder Curt Mabry will guide intermediate and advanced performers in Improv Meets David Lynch, drawing inspiration from Lynch's surreal aesthetics to explore non-linear narratives and subconscious expression. The workshop will culminate in a collective improvisational piece titled Red Room.

On October 4, mime master Philippe Bizot offers The Art of the Moment, focusing on silent storytelling, group improvisation, and cultivating focus and team synergy. Beginners are welcome to discover the power of non-verbal expression.

Closing the workshop series on October 5, Italian folk theater artist Vincenzo Di Federico brings two decades of expertise to Commedia dell'Arte: Zanni & Comedy. Through mask work and physical improvisation, participants will delve into the iconic “Zanni” (comic servant) archetype in a session that blends theory and practice.

Beyond international offerings, the festival emphasizes local talent with five full-Macauese productions—spanning musicals, live bands, educational performances, and Cantonese stand-up comedy—showcasing Macao's artistic communities while introducing mainland audiences to its vibrant performing culture.

A cultural tourism forum and industry networking reception will also be held to gather professionals from both regions to discuss integrating performance arts with tourism and advancing regional collaboration.
