Guangzhou welcomes 2026 New Year with grand Pearl River drone show

Guangzhou celebrated the 2026 New Year with a grand drone display above the Pearl River on December 30. The show, leveraging the positive momentum from the successful 15th National Games, utilized over 1,000 drones to showcase the "2026" countdown and the event's mascot, promoting unity and celebration within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The 15th National Games, the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities, and the 9th National Special Olympic Games were held in November and December 2025, co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. The mascot became a recognizable symbol during the Games and has since appeared in local promotional activities.
