Typhoon-upgrading depression to dump rain on S. Guangdong during weekend

Thestorm, located southeast of Hainan's Yongxing Island, is moving northwest at 15-20 km/h and could strengthen intotropicalstorm"Nongfa,"the 14th typhoon of the year. Its influence will trigger widespread thunderstorms across southern China, with gusts of force 8 to 11 and areas of torrential rain, particularly in Guangdong and Hainan.

Guangdong Weather Outlook:

August 30-31: Coastal counties in the south are likely to experience moderate storms with locally heavy or violent showers, while inland areas may become partly sunny with scattered thunderstorms.

Guangzhou:

August30: Mostly cloudy with thunderstorms, highs near 34°C.

August31: Cloudy with scattered storms, highs around 33°C.
